Double Action Blaster Guys by NovaSquirrel is a single player action game but also allows two simultaneous players. DABG for the Nintendo Entertainment System / Famicom is a sequel to Forehead Block Guy. It's completely rewritten so it's nowhere near as buggy as FHBG was, and they took the opportunity to rewrite it with two simultaneous players in mind, hence pluralising Guy in the title. The game can be downloaded for free for use with flash cartridges and emulators.

Features:

* Simultaneous two-player support (either player can join in at any time)
* 32 levels
* Over a dozen enemy types, plus a final boss
* Several types of blocks (not just solid and empty like the original FHBG)
* 4 different level goal types
* Level editor
* Open source

Has the layout and play style of Joust, in an odd sort of way. It must be all those ledges.
