Homebrew Chat / Re: NES PC

I could re-install on it, originally had Windoze XP on it with the drivers for TV out. Put Linux on it as a learning aid to discover more about Linux but then it only worked on a monitor. Should really look at it again but have too many other projects going on  ;D

General Retro Chat / Re: The BBC Micro Thread
September 25, 2012, 21:16:35 PM
I got thrown out of Southall college because of the BBC micro. The tutor was reading out of the book as she was explaining how to use it. Having used them at school I was ahead of the curve along with another guy who had one at home. We were already running the program using the CH. "" (chain) instead of load and then run which the tutor didn't understand.
Basically we were asked to leave the course as we would be disruptive.
Never played a game on the Beeb though, but I do have a BBC Master and the Acorn Electron, which is similar to the BBC, in a stack box here.

Introductions / Re: Errm hello

Thanks again for all the welcomes. I've already asked for help on the forum and got the help I needed for my Raspberry Pi which nobody else offered anywhere else I'd been  so this forum already has a thumbs up from me (thanks Carl)

A vast improvement to a non working one for sure. I was going to put USB ports in the front disguised in the joypad ports, would look good with a retro USB pad if there's a NES one. I made the mistake of putting Linux on it though and can't get the TV out to work as Linux is too wrapped in command line still  :<img src=" title="Roll Eyes" />

Retro News & Chat / Re: Programming On The Atari 2600

Thanks for this, I'll be watching the second video and giving it a go, I learnt BASIC on a Spectrum and wrote a simple game so this might help me get back into it now 30 years have passed  :o

Homebrew Chat / NES PC

Just thought some of you might be interested in my little NES PC.
It's a broken NES which I gutted and fitted an 800 Mhz Mini ITX board in (it was a few years back and I think the ITX boards are much faster now so you could build a nice fastish PC in a NES).

Retro News & Chat / Re: 3DO finally gets what it deserves

Just downloaded fourdo to try. I have a 3DO somewhere but think it may be broken which is why it is "somewhere" and not known exactly where it is.

I'm still going to play around with the video settings a bit. I found all the modes for HDMI and now it's a matter of finding the one which best suits my needs and my TV. The one I'm on at the moment makes everything a touch too large but at least now it's viewable and I can see what's going on.
The whole reason for getting a Pi was to start trying to learn some programming again, I learned on a Spectrum in Basic, and just wanted to try it out now I'm older with something cheap. Now it's a matter of getting to grips with a language  :D

Retro News & Chat / Re: Atari 2600 and zx81 composite mod

Almost missed the Alan reference there Spector  ;)
I might look around sometime for an NTSC 2600 and then try the mod if one comes in at a decent price.

OK, played with settings and got something quite a bit better but still need to tweak some more, thanks for the help Carl.

HDMI on a fairly small screen. I'll try that link for overscan setting thanks Carl

MegaRace brings back great memories, I had that bundled with a 486 I bought

I got myself a Raspberry Pi, set it up and it works. I have a problem though, I can't really read a damn thing on the screen as everything is so small. Anyone know how to increase the size of the taskbar thingy at the bottom and the icons?
Running the Raspbian "wheezy" image on the SD card, is there an alternative with bigger icons etc for my TV screen to display?

I don't know if I could bring myself to mod my ZX81 or Atari 2600, I've done a few mods on xboxes and stuff but they are still ten a penny. Kudos to you guys who take a soldering iron to your old games in the quest for better connectivity to the tv  ;D
