Tetris is a great puzzle game that not only has been ported to a great many systems but one that has inspired many similar games on various systems. So, how many are there? I'll start by posting a clone on the NES made by Sivak Games called Mystic Pillars.Â

I think you will struggle to find a system with more!
I think it is probably because the machine was so big in Eastern Europe.
More, you say?

I haven't included the official version, the 3-D games or the numerous adult-themed Tetris clones. There are enough Speccy games to be getting on with there, I think.
I have to admit that I thought the Speccy would probably give the A8 a run for its money!Â
I didn't include variations, 3D versions or official versions either.
The clones attacked big time on the Spectrum!Â

I still have never played Tetris. Seeing these Jaguar games makes want to try it on that system. It is all Sega's fault for releasing Columns on the Mega Drive/Genesis. Such a fun puzzle game that I have never wanted to play another till now.

Wow, that is just unheard of! You really need to get a copy and play it!
It is hard to imagine that a person into games as you has not played Tetris. It is available for so many systems and there are so many clones it is hard to miss. You can even play it on a smartphone! Heck, even using a browser: http://www.freetetris.org/ (//http)Â
It's not as nice as the console versions but you get the gist of the game. And since you mentioned Columns...

And how can I leave out this rather unique clone of Tetris on the Atari Lynx...

To be honest it really annoys me when people call Columns a Tetris clone, or any other block dropping puzzle game for that matter. They are different games to play and, although they have a similar play mechanic, have enough variation to make them original in my mind.
I understand. Clone gets used to easily. Feel the same way about maze games. All to often a maze game will be called a Pac-Man clone.

I wouldn't say it annoys me but I agree Columns is a completely different game than Tetris. They're both great games though and both have ate up a lot of my time over the years!
Oh and Ice, dig out one of those copies of Tetris and start playing dammit!Â
Well, I have never been talked to that way. I kinda liked it!
Okay now this is just getting wierd!Â
Here is another Tetris clone, this time the game is 4-Tris on the Mattel Intellivision!

So, this is 3D Pitfall, a clone of Block-Out, which is by itself, a clone of sorts of Tetris. My head hurts.
Acid Tetris (1998) For MS DOS (//http)
Acid Tetris! Not really all that crazy as far as Tetris clones go, but man, that music! .mod music is like the laughter of children to me.
Blocks from Hell. The name is probably the most interesting thing about it.
The Simpsons Tetris, obviously not licensed by Matt Groening. Apparently you can play against the AI, that has to count for something.
Simpsons not your thing? Go against the computer in Kentris, the Tetris guy named after Ken Silverman, the guy who would go on to make the Build engine, which would in turn, go on to power games such as Duke Nukem 3D. Cool, huh? Also, the playfields tend to shift back and forth a lot, which is... not typically a feature you see in Tetris clones, for obvious reasons.
Surprise! This isn't Tetris, this is Dr. Rudy, which is a clone of Nintendo's Dr. Ma -- dear god his HEAD.
NYet. This is what games that used ASCII graphics tended to look like on a bad day. But they didn't look that much better on a good day, either.
Mute Fantasies: Tetripz (1997) (//http)
And finally, let's round things off for now with Tetripz. Apparently, this is what it's like to play Tetris on LSD. I can't say I've ever done that, nor do I particularly want to, but I appreciate knowing that somebody tried this and made a game out of it.
Not many people seem to know this but Block Out was originally an arcade game by Technos, of Double Dragon fame, and then appeared on a number of home systems including the ST, Amiga, PC, Lynx, NES and Mega Drive.
Blockout Arcade game play (//http)
Block Out - Atari Lynx (//http)[/align:2vn692d6]
You know, I never DID play Block Out that much... I guess the few times I tried it, I just could never get my head around the 3D thing. I should give it another shot, although I'm not sure what version I'd go for... maybe I'll give that NES protoype a shot and see what that's like. Lynx version doesn't look that bad, either. Looks like the kind of game it's made for, really, given the concept.
OK, so everyone is posting "Block" games, how about Block Drop on the Atari 7800?!
Here is a rather unique take on the Tetris formula that combines yet another famous franchise:Â Pac-Attack!

It's a great game, I have the Philips CD-i version, but I think it's a very different game to Tetris.

Yep, it is intended to be. It isn't a direct copy of the Tetris gameplay.Â

Yeah but that is a Columns clone so I didn't include it.
I guess for health reasons it is time to play Tetris. I saw a snippet on a morning news show about playing Tetris could help with dieting. Not sure of the full connection but any excuse to game is a good one.
Oh, I'd like to link another favorite Tetris clone of mine. This one's called Bricklayer, for Windows 3.1. It's nothing too fancy, but there's one reason I really like it.
Bricklayer v 1.00 for Windows (//http)
I love the ridiculously overdramatic music. It makes you feel like you're part of some 80's, Tetris playing montage, playing for weeks on end to get the skills you need to win the competition. Like The Karate Kid, but with Tetris.
...Actually, I should do something with that idea.

Hey, I like the music on that clone too. It does have that 80's ring to it.Â

That's an interesting clone. The pieces are all monochrome but the background is dynamic and with color. The music is not bad either.Â
