Hey guys! I've heard some great stuff about you guys! I'm a part of the Retro Junkie Network and I heard about y'all through the Intellivisionaries and Retro Obscura. I have a show on youtube the covers mostly retro video games from the Atari 2600 onward.
You can find my channel here. I think a lot of you would like it:

I'm currently at 46 episodes. My latest is on Yoshi's Island on the SNES. I try to get out at least one episode a week, sometimes more: NSG Ep 46 Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island Review (SNES) The No Swear Gamer Retro Reviews (//http)
Hello and welcome to RVG! I've subscribed to your channel and will be checking it out.Â
Hello and welcome indeed. I will check out your channel and subscribe assuming I like it lol. No seriously I will.
Thanks Guys! I appreciate it. How you enjoy it!
New episode. My first review of a Jaguar game: Zool 2
NSG Ep 47 Zool 2 Review (Atari Jaguar) The No Swear Gamer Retro Reviews (//http)
Nice reviewÂ
Coincidentally I just bought Zool 2 for the Jag last week, looks like I'm in for some fun when it arrives.
Good job with the review. Zool 2 is one of my favorite Jaguar games.Â
Â
Nice review fella, not sure if I have this in my collection anymore lol.
Thanks everybody! I'm glad you liked the Zool 2 review.
My newest review covers the Atari TV Games Plug n Play by Jakks Pacific.
NSG Ep 48 Atari TV Games Plug N Play System Review The No Swear Gamer Retro Reviews (//http)
Nice video. I was laughing at your description of Adventure. On Centipede, the spider looks like it is havign seizures! I also fail to understand why would anyone put paddle games onto a joystick controller gaming system?
That's funny! I went back to watch the spider and you are totally right!
Yeah, as I said in my review, the only reason I can think of why they would include paddle games on a controller is the name recognition of Pong and Breakout. I really wish they wouldn't. So many other good choices out there like Haunted House. At lease some of the Flashback units let you plug in Paddles. One of the DS collections made an interesting effort having you use the touchscreen, but nothing beats the real thing.
I am enjoying your videos fella.. Any chance of a plug on a couple of your videos?
Nice work. I really liked the review of Zool 2 for the Jag. I have this game but haven't played it yet but am now looking forward to it

Yeah that may be possible :)

Give it a shot! The controls take some getting used to and it is very tough, but it can be fun!
Next Ep is live giving some more attention to the Atari 7800 with a Pole Position II review:

Cool to see you posting here, I ran across your videos a few weeks ago by chance. I've gotten pretty burnt out on AVGN knock off reviewers, kudos (and I'll be keeping my adblocker turned off!).
Another nice video! Good to see all these 7800 videos!Â

Congrats on reaching 50 posts! Ninja Golf is certainly a unique game on the 7800!Â
That looks like a very nice, fun game for the 7800 and a very good review again. Nice work
Thanks guys!
My next episode should be out in the next 24 hours. Listen to the end. I put in a nice plug for the site!Â

NSG Ep 52 Dark Chambers Review (Atari 7800) The No Swear Gamer (//http)
New Ep up with Dark Chambers for the 7800. I always thought it was a Gauntlet clone, when in fact Gauntlet cloned it! (albeit with more polish).
Nice review of Dark Chambers. It's a game I've always enjoyed. I was one of those who always believed this game to be a clone of Gauntlet. I was quite surprised to learn that it wasn't and that it had actually inspired the game.
Quality reviews, really enjoying them.
Nice reviews, and I never knew that about Gauntlet either. Interesting stuff indeed. Thanks for the plug also.
Thanks everyone! It's really inspiring to hear all that!
Here's my next, Fire Fighter for the Atari 2600 which will also be featured on the next Atari 2600 Game by Game podcast.
NSG Ep 53 Fire Fighter Review (Atari 2600) The No Swear Gamer (//http)
Another nicely done review. That is not a game I've played and now I'm less interested!
Here one that surprised me. The 2600 version of Dark Chambers:

I watched this video earlier today. Another good one, though I don't consider myself a fan of the 2600 version of Dark Chambers.Â

Hmmmm, I might be able to a written review here and there. Probably not until after the holidays due to being pretty busy this time of yet. What would it all entail?
Ugggg, Sorry for the reposts. Browsers issues I believe.
I've cleared the double posts. No worries. We can talk about the reviews after the holidays if you prefer.Â

Raiders of the Lost Ark Review Atari 2600- NSG Ep 72 The No Swear Gamer (//http)
I'm curious what y'all think of Raiders, especially if you played it when it first came out.
I like video Pinball games. I have played the NES version and I enjoy it. Raider of the Lost Ark I never played when it first launched.Â
I did play Raiders soon after it came out, but I never made it very far. I remember the music the most and at the time I thought it was really good. As for the game, I could never figure out what to do! It seemed like there were some cool secrets in the game if you could figure out which item to use where, but mostly I just wandered around being bit by the damn snakes! Nice review

Nice set of videos. Kangaroo is definitely a fun game on the 2600. The gameplay from the arcade is well captured despite the graphical compromises.Â
Great videos!
Kangaroo is a favorite of mine. I have a copy of John Elway's Quarterback, picked it up years ago at a garage sale. Someone had given me the box so finding the game cheap was worth it. Never played it and have never heard of a sequel of any kind so it has always been on a shelf.

Thanks! That's awesome! I hope you enjoy the boxes as much as I do! I usually find the value of the stuff is pretty good. Sometimes I've been able to sell anything I don't want to cover the cost of the box, but the last box was so solid that I will be keeping most of it.

I'm right there with you! I just got a 3DO this past year and when I have more time, I want to try to get a copy of SS for it too!

I enjoyed that video a lot, just resist the temptation to go into AVGN territory, I think. There is a lack of serious games journalism out there and I think your videos fill a need pretty well with that, if I see one more person goofing on bad games and screaming at the camera I think I may just give up on Youtube.Â
I'm glad you mentioned Ballz, that is a great example of a tech demo type of game. There were a lot of those in the 90's, that people rented just for the "wow, look at the graphics" appeal, and not for the gameplay.Â

Thanks! While I do try to add a little humor to my episodes, my goal is always to look at each game objectively and give it a fair chance. I even enjoyed 2600 ET!

Quote from: "TrekMD"Wow, that's a nice find! And River Patrol?!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rztLtubHoKI (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rztLtubHoKI)
I didn't realize that River Patrol was an arcade port, so I looked up the arcade original. This 2600 version does retain the gameplay of the arcade but the visuals were changed significantly. I wonder if they would have done something closer to the arcade in terms of layout of the rivers.Â
Some awesome videos of late my man.

Yeah. I liked Fast Food. It's a shame that most modern game lake the crazy creativity of 80's gaming.
I think that creativity was, in a way, forced by the limitations of the available hardware. They had to create good gameplay to "make up" for the graphics.Â

Cool mix of games, mostly sports. I do like RealSports Volleyball on the 2600 also. It's a good game for the system. I don't have RealSports Soccer but I was never impressed with how the game looked. You should review Super Football, though. That game is quite impressive.Â

Thanks! Don't have Super yet, but RS Football is on the schedule down the road.
Here's my latest vids since last time including reviews of the Club Nintendo Majora's Mask Messenger Bag, Reactor (2600), Kung Fu Master (7800), Title Match Pro Wrestling (2600 & 7800) & a unboxing featuring games for the 2600, Genesis and one special title.

Another great set of reviews. Reactor is a game I've never played. It looks interesting. Kung Fu Master is a mixed bag on the 7800. The graphics I think are pretty good but the sound could be better. A POKEY chip would have done wonders for this one! I do have TitleMatch on the 7800. I don't have the 2600 version.

I rented it when it came out, but I don't have it. I would like to pick it up again at some point.
I don't have it either. I've heard it is better as it addresses some of the issues with the original version.Â
Quote from: "TrekMD"I don't have it either. I've heard it is better as it addresses some of the issues with the original version.
Growing up I know I liked the original better. I remember the 2nd one being more action oriented, much easier and with less exploring. However that was many years ago, so it would be interesting to see how it would hold up today.
I had an unintentional Atari week! My next batch include a walkthrough of Pitfall (2600), an Atari 7800 System Review and reviews of the games Desert Falcon (7800) & Berzerk (2600).

Another nice set of reviews. The 7800 Choplifter is based on the computer game, which is why it has no real music and the sound effects are sparse - just like in the original. It's too bad because they could have certainly embellished it much more.
Really impressive stuff fella..
I keep meaning to do stuff for our channel but i can never find the time so i am gobsmacked you lot can.

Yep, the original was made for the Intellivision but the 2600 game is completely different. The 2600 version is better, actually.Â
The best RealSports Baseball title for the Atari consoles is the 5200 version which even has speech. It is sad to see the 7800 version want backwards instead of forward.
Recently I reviewed the new Reaction Jaws figure, Crack'ed on the 7800, showed an Easter Egg for Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! and reviewed the Ballblazer wannabe, Space Football on the SNES.

Thanks! Yeah, I forget the details, but I think originally that wanted part of the title to have the word deep in it, but they were recommended not to use that word in the title, so they went the contest route instead.
They could have just it Deep Waters. I don't think anyone could have linked that to any of the Jaws movies.

Would've made sense to me, but for some reason marketing had something against the word deep.
I can't remember, but I think they feared it would make the game sound too difficult.

Another nice set of videos. I was laughing and Single Dragon! Quite true, though. The 7800 is getting a beefed up version thanks for hackers/homebrewers that greatly improves the Activision release. I think Activision could have done more with this game had they added more memory and a POKEY and I have to wonder why they didn't given this game was released later than other versions.Â
I see you were able to get the prototype cart of the improved version!

Thanks! My guess is Activision had a budget and stuck to it since it was a late 7800 release and most likely they didn't see a big potential in profit for it to justify putting more into it.

Great video, review and info. This was one of the best I ever played and probably the first I beat on the 2600 way back. Played it religiously for a long time since it was so huge and diverse. Thanks for helping remember the good 'ol days for a moment or two 8)
There are lots of updated versions of Adventure that are also worth playing as they expand the world and also improve the graphics or add nice twists. :)

Updated on newer hardware? Haven't seen much in the way of this. I believe an Adventure 2 was released for the Atari 5200 via homebrew a while back. If worthy, can you/we make a thread of Adventure and its updates with links so I don't derail this one? I'd love to see what's out there and while it's a Google search away I need to get moving and may forget to pursue it. Would be worth investigating though :)
Thanks for the heads up either way 8)

Yes, that game does give issues. My system is not modded but it is not compatible for whatever reason. Glad you liked Escape from the Mindmaster. I think that is one awesome game on the 2600 with the SuperCharger. It really looks amazing and it plays well. Sword of Saros is another story.

Another great set of videos! There's an 8K hack of Alien that makes the game much better than it already is. The sprites have been changed so the aliens look more like in the movie. They start off as eggs, change into facehuggers, and then you get the adult aliens. It also uses a black background.

Keith Courage was an awful pack-in game. Glad Bonk was included free for a while on the TG-16. Playstation fans could add how it originally only came with a demo disc.
Jr. Pac-Man was a nice step up. Artillery Duel video is a winner just for mentioning a Faygo soft drink. LOL!

Yes, the POKEY was what GCC originally had intended to see in those carts (or something similar for better sound).
Originally, the Pokey was supposed to be part of the 7800 system, but supposedly, they ran out of room on the mother baord.
The backup plan was to make a smaller, cheaper sound chip called the Gumby (get it?) that would go in the carts themselves, but that too never materialized. Oh well.

This is the greatest DS game ever! I especially love how creative the "catching falling items" minigames are. If I worked at IGN, I'd give this game 11/10! I wish more developers would design their games with a similar control scheme. It's just sooooooo good!
I hate this game XD

I've always enjoyed Rabbit Transit. The way to beat the guy throwing the stones in the higher levels is to wait for him in the middle section but at the lower level. Once he throws the stone, you have time to change the blocks and then return to the center so he only changes those block back. Just like you did on the video. :)

YES!!! THIS IS WHAT GOT ME TO WHERE I AM TODAY! I have this thing to thank for me being a retro gamer!
Edit: I just watched your review. I guess I don't remember the issues with the Flashback because it was my first experience with the 2600 and 7800 games and I haven't played it in 10 years. I'd still like to get one just to relive my childhood, but I probably won't play it much since I'm getting a REAL 7800 this month WITH FOOD FIGHT!!!
