Top 10 things that are destroying the fun of gaming these days:

-Patches-be it day 1 patches, patches to fix bugs or tweak MP, or add Move or 3DTV support.I put game on to play, not watch a ruddy progress bar.

-Online passes-2nd hand games are a fact of gaming life, just because 'we' buy used games, does'nt make us pirates.

-Rage quitters-Ohh? your loosing? try again next game, you've what? quit game and thus ruined it for those of us enjoying game? then WHY host a game?.

-Motion Control.Just take it away, be it Wii, Kinect or Move.

-Death of talented studios as marketing screwed up promoting last game/joe public too ignorant to buy it.Bizzare Creations, Psygnosis, Pandemic etc.You are very much missed.

-Trophies/Gamerscore:what ever happened to buying a game just for the adventure or the joy of beating your mates high score? Not buying a game because it has poor/no 'reward' schemes such as trophies etc seems daft to me, as does buying a game you won't enjoy, but know it'll hand out rewards with ease.

-'Death' of dedicated SP games.Short SP campain, focus on MP campain style games bad enough, now, everything seems afraid not to have an online mode bolted on for fear of lower review score. If it adds to exp.inc it, if not? why bother, you know servers will be dead in few months as is.

-'Fake' HD collections.Upscaling last gen.visuals doth not an HD game make.IF your going to re-release a last gen. game, do it properly, re-do the graphics, adress any flaws from the original version, you've a chance to make the DEF.version, don't waste it, all it does is leave a sour taste of being ripped off in consumers mouth.

-PC Elite claiming consoles dumbing down gaming/too weak to do game justice.-Things like Eyetoy on PS2, iOS/Android gaming/DS/Wii etc targeted previous non-gamers, you still find certain genres work far better on PC or are only avaiable on PC, plus you get the MOD scene and console conversions, so your NOT hard done by and as for the 'My PC runs game in 1080P, with 4X A.A and 60 FPS' stuff? and so it should, your graphics card alone cost £250, was bought only few months ago, a 360/PS3 is 6+ year old tech, can we not just enjoy the games and demand things like better A.I?.

Touch screen gaming.Even as an iPad owner, i'm just not convinced touch screen gaming has any merits.

Top 10 foolish P.R stunts pulled by gaming industry:

-Silent Bomber:sending out realistic looking sticks of dynamite, complete with timer, wires and a battery was stupid enough, but doing it on the anniversy of the Soho pub bombing, was just an epic face palm moment.

-Hogs Of War.Ad campain showing photo's of real life pigs having sex(pigs had Playstation symbols on their hides as well) was deemed 'too shocking', so it was pulled.

-God Of War 2 (Sony. The launch event had party goers eating offal out of the carcass of a decapitated goat, whilst topless women and blood soaked men standing nearby, watching, sounds like my kinda night. The Daily Mail however thought other wise and had a field day with headlines of 'Depraved P.R stunt'.

-Shadow Man 2.Acclaim offering to pay bereaved families, IF they would place small ads for the game on the poor deceased's headstone! and to add insult to injury, they said that the offer 'might be of particular interest to poorer families'.

-Splinter Cell:Conviction.Ubisoft.Now, stop me if you can already see the flaws in this P.R stunt:Getting an 'actor' to wear bandages on his hand and pull a (fake) gun on people at a popular nightlife area, was never going to end well, indeed, crowd panicked and ran, real police arrived guns drawn etc.

-Burnout 2.Acclaim (again) They offered to pay the fines of ANYONE issued a speeding ticket in UK on the games launch date, UK goverment got wind of it and offer was quickly withdrawn.

-Red Faction:Guerrilla/THQ, took a car, put 100 copies of the game in it (for all to see) parked it in middle of Covent Garden and chained a sledgehammer next to it and wanted to see if anyone going about their daily routine would stop and smash up a car just to get a copy of the game and yes they would and indeed did.

-Mercenaries 2/E.A took over a petrol station and paid for £20,000 worth of fuel, kitted the petrol station out in camoflage etc and offered passing car drivers upto £40's worth of free fuel.Police were forced to intervene as once word got out, lengthy tailbacks to the forecourt caused traffic chaos.

-Turok:Evolution.They paid 5 UK residents £500 each to legally change their names legally to Turok.Money well spent then.

Rival Schools-Mag adverts had young jap school girls alongside Numchukas, just 1 problem, Numchukas are illegal in UK, so ads cannot show them.

-ECW Hardcore Revolution:Photo of 1 bloke using a staple gun on another chaps forehead with tag line'Beg For It', lead to ads being banned.

Funny that so many of these are by Acclaim (who went bankrupt) and involve Sony and the PlayStation too

:) just to balance the scales:

SEGA: 'Come and have a go if you think your hard enough' (DC Online adverts), running during the Euro 2000 football riots, UK Telly regulator rushed through a move to suspend the ads before the England/Germany grudge match kicked off.

Virtua Racing: 'Score some speed from your local dealer'.

Ecco The Dolphin: 'Speed, weed and Blow'

Virgin with Screamer, ad campain at Christmas (with Police in full swing trying to keep drink drivers off the roads), advert had an overturned car with tagline:

'Thousands of madmen are on the roads this Christmas-Join Them'
