that is also a distinct possibility lol... but seriously though the game reward scheme is pretty good and they are starting to compete well with online prices. I often prefer to go and buy a preowned copy from game rather than purchase a copy from CEX or Ebay and have no idea of the state of the game and wait for it to be delivered AND pay for delivery.

Also I love going into game and trading in old complete games for a new game. I traded a spare borderlands for Red Faction Armageddon and it was absolutely free!

just seems no one is buying the wii-u at the moment at all except parents who want to entertain their kids with the latest tech toy

I'm a Wii U owner but I don't recall having become a parent yet. Maybe I should make some enquiries...  :P

how sucky is that though? To have to use the old wii controller to play games... and is it really worth bothering with the screen controller for just one player gameplay? Can you use more than 1 on the same machine? Soooo glad I'm avoiding this pile.

I actually like the Wii's classic controller (or pro) so it's personal preference to keep using the Wii controllers. And, didn't cost anything since I already have a few of them. There's a new Wii U pro controller available but it isn't backwards compatible with Wii games so I'm not buying yet.

Games that integrate touch screen controls won't even launch without the gamepad but most of those games aren't my style anyway. You can launch & play non-touch screen games like Sonic Racing Transformed or Mighty Switch Force using only the Wii classic controller. Still have the option to quickly switch to the gamepad as a short-range portable if the kids want to watch TV.

Long term, I'll probably use a classic controller or arcade stick for most of my Wii U gaming... same as I did for Wii gaming. For me, the gamepad is great for portable netflix/web browsing and occasional 'handheld' gaming. With true full game cross play! (unlike the Vita) :D I won't buy another gamepad unless there's a killer app that requires a second touch screen.

Hmnn......

Made for surprising reading, are  third party publishers taking a wait and see approach i wonder? or are the main teams busy on PS4/Xbox Next/Android/iOS games these days?.

Not a lot to pick through there, espically if your a PC/PS3/360 owner.

Nintendo really need to be getting out the big guns, prior to the hype train for Sony+MS next gen hardware being offically annouced.

Wow... another reason the UK/EU launch was worse than the US. Console prices are much higher and the first five games on that list were launch titles in the US.

For near-term retail releases, I'm looking forward to: Rayman Legends, Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, and Lego City (for my kids)... in that order. :) Also anxious for Toki Tori 2 and Bit.Trip Runner 2 on the eShop. Plenty of exclusives to keep me happy during the first six months of the console.

I still don't see 'hardcore' gamers looking at the Wii U as their primary console... ever. Once the next gen consoles are released the Wii U probably won't be able to handle multi-platform ports anyway. The opportunity for ports of the latest modern titles will probably end in 2013.

Just played ZombiU for my first time - I started with the campaign mode. The Gamepad integration I've witnessed thus far seems kinda okay but nothing revolutionary. The game itself seems reasonably well put together with plenty of atmosphere and tension with the gameplay. Kinda cool being able to venture around the London Underground and outside on street level too... more so perhaps because I live in the South East near to London myself.

I can certainly now appreciate for why the quality of the game's graphics have been criticised though as they're very rough around the edges with some rather rudimentary-looking textures and low polyon count angular-looking objects on screen. I kinda 'get' the PS2 comparison albeit that I think it's a little harsh as the graphics aren't that poor. I'm just a little surprised at how rough the visuals look in places and aren't necessarily saying that from the perspective of a PC user used to witnessing games with splendid graphics. The game is visually lacking in certain obvious aspects relative to PS360 too. The quality of the visuals are far from being a game breaker albeit that they serve as a constant reminder of just how much better the game world's atmosphere could have been were the graphics to have been better.

I sense this is a game I'll likely quite enjoy playing and be more than glad to have purchased despite such issues.

I want a DS/Gameboy adaptor for the Wii U. I would buy one when they release that add-on.

That's a really good idea. Now that they have the touch screen controller they could do a DS player for it. I'd take another look at buying one if they released something like that.

Found a Wii U Netflix workaround online... in case anyone else is sick of the gamepad using up battery life to display the netflix menu while watching on the TV:

After starting the movie/TV episode walk the gamepad away from the Wii U until it's out of range, then power off the gamepad. The movie will continue playing and you can power on the gamepad right back at the netflix menu if you want to pause or switch to the gamepad display.

.

So, after ALL Gearboxes talk of how Wii U version of Aliens:Colonial Marines will be the best version, that they love the Wii U etc, it turns out that iun fact it's NOT them who are doing the Wii Version, instead it's 'Demilurge Studios' (Ported Mass Effect to PC i believe) and that Wii version will appear anything upto 2 months AFTER the PS3/PC+360 versions.

Could be interesting....

Well that's a little shocking. I'm really looking forward to this game and I was thinking if the Wii U version is a lot better it may make me buy one but if it's coming out that much later and being done by a different team I will probably just buy it for PS3 or 360. Guess we will see.

It seems Demiurge are something of a 'porting' studio, having done PC Mass Effect and Pinnacle station DLC.They also worked with Gearbox on Borderlands and helped Irrational with level design on Bioshock.

My concerns would be:

Are they going to try and port CPU intensive PS3/360 code to Wii U, rather than re-code it for the Wii U strength (GPU)?.

Is this to become a standard for 3rd party support for Wii U-You'll get the big name games, but done by teams just given task of porting it over, add a few controller specific bells n whistles?.

The proof will be in the pudding.

If the Wii U version is plagued with technical issues such as a lower frame rate, inconsistent frame rate, lower quality textures, etc, than the PS360 version and/or has gimmicky GamePad integration that adds nothing particularly constructive to the gameplay experience then I'll just pick up the best version instead - the PC version.

If indeed the game itself is any good in the first place...
