So I was browsing ebay last night and came across a TurboGrafx in really good condition and ending soon so I threw in a last second bid and I won! Complete impulse buy LOL! It was a good deal though so I'm quite happy about itÂ
Comes with 2 games too, Cratermaze and Deep Blue. I really don't know anything about those games and not expecting much but they will give me something to play till I get a few other games.
Well done!
I have reviewed both games on here. Deep Blue is shite but Cratermaze is brilliant!
Cool, I'll check out your reviews
definitely pick up Blazing Lazers, Alien/Devil Crush, Dragon Spirit, Ninja Spirit and Side Arms, they are my personal favourites! congrats on the pick up

I might have one of these minus the step down tranny.. Any advice on what one i sould get?
No idea mate, any should do really.
so does anyone ever see the CD drive for the TGX online at all? I'd be interested to hear if it goes for more or less than a Jaguar CD add on! I'd also love to know if it works with the console I have due to region and the various models etc... I'm guessing it does. How many titles released on the CD by the way? Anyone?

Here is a list of Turbo CD games:

They pop up on eBay from time to time, expect to play about the same as a Jag CD for one, maybe a little less.
wow thats a long ol list thanks bud! I assume Japanese games wont work on the American CD drive? I assume also that they didn't do a localised one for the EU?

There's no region protection on the CD games so if you do ever manage to find a CD player any game should work on it. The CD games don't seem to be very expensive either so I guess that partly makes up for the high cost of the CD add on.
Just read a little more on wikipedia and there is one slight exception.
They released multiple CD system HU cards that need to be inserted in the system to play the CD games. There are Japanese and American versions of these cards except for the arcade CD card which was only released in Japan. What this means is if you wanted to play arcade CD games you would need to buy a HU card adapter so that you could use the Japanese card in your system. Crystal clear right? lol yeah it's a little confusing.

I seem to remember very few games use that card and there is an American arcade card that allows you to play pretty much everything.
All of the Arcade Card, Super CD Card, and CD-ROM System Card variations are pretty confusing. I think the Arcade Card was Japan only, and there are two versions depending on whether you have a Duo (Arcade Card) or a CD add-on unit (Arcade Card Pro). You need a JPN console or a PCE->Turbo HuCard adapter to play Arcade Card games.
The best Arcade Card games are Sapphire (rare shmup - $$$) and Strider (new cutscenes and an extra stage), but here's a full list:
Arcade Card Games:
Battlefield '94 In Super Battle Dream
Fire Pro Female Wrestling (WOWOW vs. JWP)
Garou Densetsu 2/Fatal Fury 2
Garou Densetsu Special/Fatal Fury Special
Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire
Jong Shin Densetsu
Kabuki Itouryodan
Mad Stalker Full Metal Force
Madou Monogatari I Honou no Sotsuenji
Ryuuko No Ken/Art of Fighting
Strider Hiryuu
World Heroes 2
Super CD games with Arcade Card enhancement:
3 x 3 Eyes Sanjiyan Hensei
Atlas (The) - Renaissance Voyager
Brandish
Eikan Wa Kimini
Formation Soccer '95
Gulliver Boy
J. League Tremendous Soccer '94
Linda Cube
Mahjong Sword Princess Quest Gaiden
Popful Mail
Princess Maker 2
Private Eye Doll
Sexy Idol Mahjong Fashion Monogatari
Sotsugyou II Neo Generation
Super Real Mahjong P II & III Custom
Super Real Mahjong P V Custom
Tanjou Debut
Vasteel 2
Wrestling Angels Double Impact
Also, for full compatibility on my Duo-R, I have both an Arcade Card and a CD-ROM System Card v1. Some of the early CD games won't work with the Super CD standard that's built-in for Duo consoles so you have to 'downgrade' to the original CD card to run a few of the early games.
