Metroid II: The Return Of Samus was released in 1991 for the Game Boy. Project AM2R, some six years in the making, takes that Game Boy game and makes it look, sound and play so much prettier. The fan project got its first full release on Saturday, to coincide with the series’ 30th. However, it wasn't long before the big N stepped in with DMCA injunction to have the website removed and the game was taken down as twittered by the game's developer here.
Now with the site down, they've resorted to a possible short-term haven over on their facebook page, which I suspect will be met with the same distaste of Nintendo's lawyer team, with fans uproar over this, it was to be expected that Nintendo would have the pop noodle horn over this and released the hounds, the game mine is something very special, being a pet project for the last 6 years putting this together only to be removed is a total travesty in my opinion, I'm all for companies protecting their IP's, but when no profit is being made from this, where's the harm? no really where's the harm? again Nintendo used their might and only make themselves looks the kids throwing his toys out of his pram. Shame on Nintendo, first the NES Compendium from Bitmap Books and now this?

As you can see it's very faithful to the original and looks very similar to Nintendo's own Super Metroid released on the Super Nintendo back in 1994, although the game has been removed from its main site, fellow supporters have gone on to defy Nintendo's DMCA claims and posted which I suspect will be removed very soon, a download link to the game with you can get the game here : http://www.mediafire.com/download/6b6ho13qbf9y6ca/AM2R_10.zip now remember this game is completely free and deserves to be out there for all the amazing work the team did while remaking it. for more news on this project you can, of course, head over to their Facebook page also check out the gameplay video of this wonderful remake.

Add a commentThe Mystery Of Woolley Mountain is a new otherworldly point and click adventure for PC (Windows - DRM-free) and MAC (OSX DRM free), featuring five renegade audio scientists in their quest to rid Woolley Mountain of an evil witch.
If you loved The Secret Of Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, DiscWorld, Space Quest, Trap Door, Phantom Tollbooth and Chorlton and the Wheelies then continue reading my friend....
The game is based on a series of characters collectively known as the Helmholtz Resonators that exist in many forms of media already, with this being their first foray into the gaming world.

Colourful world: The Mystery Of Woolley Mountain's world features a fantastical sprawling universe, where beasts, witches, automatons, ropemen and other strange and wonderful beings exist.

Three huge acts: The full game features THREE acts, delivered to you on release in October 2017 (Unless you choose the Early Bird BETA reward!) Family content and all ages humour: No swearing, the word 'Darn' may appear.
Unique cartoon 2D Graphics: Adventure Time meets the Simpsons, a different look and feels to the other P&C games out there (P&C stands for Point and click, I just thought of that acronym - copyright pending.....)
Fantastical story: The five scientists travel in their amazing time-traversing Crystal Submarine from island to island, starting out on a small dock and ending up on the dangerous island of Woolley mountain to find and destroy the evil witch.
The Mystery Of Woolley Mountain uses a classic point-and-click adventure interface with 4 unique interactions; harking back to the halcyon adventure game days of trying multiple verbs on objects to see the protagonists reaction.

Set in a surreal fantastical world where a group of renegade time travelling audio scientists are trying to save a town from a malevolent witch who has kidnapped the children on the mysterious island of Woolley Mountain.
VanDamme Laudenkleer received word of the witch's actions and set off alone to stop her. Our protagonist, Garland Vanderbilt, upon returning from shore leave, quickly discovered that VanDamme had gone solo and must now try to find and convince the rest of the crew to set sail for Woolley Mountain to save him, free the kidnapped children and put a stop to the evil witch.

With only 10 days to go, you'd be mad not to support this wonderful project and has attached some fantastic perks as incentives to get on board If you like what you have seen here you might want to check this game out over at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/woolleymountain/mystery-of-woolley-mountain-a-new-point-and-click for more information. cheers. ORK
My name is Ku-Kabul, a wannabe space captain who has to suffer a series of tests on alien infested words to prove my worth. Each level has a guardian and he won't let you pass until you cross his palm with silver. Thankfully, I have been supplied with a cool laser cannon and a jet booster to help me!

Amigans and fans of horizontal-scrolling shumps will be interested to know that a freelance comic artist has taken it upon himself to produce an unofficial remake of Amiga classic Agony. Mega Visions – Welcome to a new kind of SEGA magazine
The Official Dreamcast Magazine, SEGA Visions, Mean Machines Sega ... these are just a few of the classic SEGA magazines from days gone by. It seems so long ago that there was a dedicated SEGA magazine we could call our own, but the time has come for SEGA fans to get their very own magazine once again!

Overscan Invaders
Space Invaders, a two dimensional alien attack which sees their mothership frequently flyby to check on her troops as you blast them all to smithereens with a cannon that can only reload once the previous shot has hit its target or disappeared off-screen. Hmm, it sounds rather lame but actually it works and it works very well of course!

Sega Saturn unravelled after 20 years
The Sega Saturn has been deemed not only one of hardest consoles to program software for, but also emulation of this system has been tricky for quite a few people wanting to get the very best out of this machine. With consoles of all types and sizes now moving into their twilight years certain elements of these machine are beginning to fail quicker than others, examples of say the CD lens beginning to stop reading discs, or power strips weakening etc. causing your lovely console to bow out before its time.

Ranarama
Many games seem put you in command of a musclebound warrior or perhaps a Hollywood hero with a deadly automated weapon. Not so with Ranarama, how about a novice magician called Mervyn who has accidentally turned himself into a frog. Yep, you're a frog!

Powerglove coming to Amiga
You may or may not have heard of Powerglove, a Commodore 64 homebrew title released back in 2014. Well excitingly for Amigans like myself, developer Lazy Cow (aka Matthias Bock) is currently working on an Amiga-enhanced version and has released a non-playable teaser that can be downloaded from his webpage.

Microids had a silly idea about what the future holds for sporting events and this obviously involves a dollop of ice hockey played through an isometric marble madness environment.

Gynoug
Gynoug is a side scrolling shooting game, with a mythical theme, released in 1991. It was named Wings of Wor in the US.
You assume the role of the winged hero, Wor, a Battle Master of the planet Iccus and, in typical fashion, you’re the only badass that has a chance of single handedly saving the planet from the invasion of the Mutants of Iccus, led by the evil Destroyer.

Donkey Kong Arcade Machine – The Home Straight - Part 2

Part 2 – The Home Straight
So in Part 1 you will have followed my journey so far in restoring this beat up Donkey Kong cab. I felt I was in the home straight now – it was time for some artwork to be applied to the sides of the cab. This part scared me to death, because once the art is on, it’s on. You can’t get it wrong, there are no second chances. So here it is. A step by step guide to applying side art:

Part 1 – Raising The Dead
I can’t imagine what it must’ve been like to build arcade cabinets from the ground up on a factory production line back in the early 1980s. Rumour has it that those employed by Atari in California to hand build the classic cabs we know and love, were largely low-paid, permanently stoned hippies and Mexicans (am I allowed to say that?!). Some even go as far to say that the unique musty arcade “smell” you get when you switch on a thirty year old arcade cabinet is part weed, infused into the wood of the machines by the workers smoking on joints all day on the production lines.
