Brian Colin Questions Needed
« on: January 19, 2018, 01:01:27 AM »

I had the chance to meet Brian during FreePlay Florida this past November.  He's a very nice guy and he agreed to do an interview for us. So, here is your chance to post some questions that we can send Brian.  If you don't know who Brian is, he is a video game designer who is best known for his work on Rampage, Arch Rivals, and Rampage: World Tour. He is currently the CEO of Game Refuge,Inc., an independent video game development company.  He has been very prolific in video game development and he is named as an inventor in three different US patents related to gaming history.

Colin's animated short film In Search of a Plot (1977) earned awards at the Chicago International Film Festival, the Melbourne International Amateur Film Festival, the Datsun/Playboy FOCUS International Film Festival, the National Student and Amateur Filmmakers' Festival of Comedy and CINE.

Thanks for agreeing to the interview, could you take a moment to tell a little about you and how you got into the gaming industry?

With the General Chaos 2 KS not succeeding would you consider a version for the Megadrive/Genesis? Lots of interest in retro gaming at the moment.

Xenophobe is one of my all time favourite games, can you tell us how this game came about and what you did on the game?

Do you have any incomplete gaming code or graphics for unreleased games in you collection that you might consider sharing if aloud?

Are you an 8bit or 16bit fan and please expand why?

Whats the reasoning behind the name Game Refuge?

Can you tell us about how you guys met up and formed Media Molecule?

Are you shocked at the current resurgence in retro related gaming?

What games and genres were your favourites?

Who in the industry did you idolize when you was starting out?

Which one of the games you have been involved was the hardest title to create code or graphics for and why?

Also which are you proudest of and why?

Own: Jaguar, Lynx, Dreamcast, Saturn, MegaDrive, MegaCD, 32X, GameGear, PS3, PS, PSP, Wii, GameCube, N64, DS, GBA, GBC, GBP, GB,  Xbox, 3DO, CDi,  WonderSwan, WonderSwan Colour NGPC

Here's a few more. :)

Rampage is a game I really enjoy playing. How did you come up with the idea for the game and all the different characters in it?

How do you feel about the way the video game industry has changed over the years, and did you ever imagine it would grow to be as big as it is today?

Which do you prefer to play, retro or modern video games?

Here are some additional questions for Brian.  All of these are already sent...

1.  Are you involved at all with the movie based on Rampage that is being released?

2.  What did you think when you found out the game had inspired a movie?

3.  With the advent of VR for gaming consoles, how would you feel about making a version of Rampage for the PS4 that would use this technology?

4.  What was the process to make the arcade Star Trek Voyager game?  Were you approached by Paramount/CBS or did you have to compete to make the game?

5.  Can you tell us about your involvement with the game Discs of Tron?

6.  Did you program Satan’s Hollow or did you have another role related to the game?
