SNES Classic
« on: June 26, 2017, 19:30:59 PM »
I think we all knew this was coming, but Nintendo has made it official and announced a new mini console based on the SNES.

Nice selection of games and the inclusion of the unreleased Star Fox 2 is very cool, but at 21 total it seems a little small to me. I'm sure it will sell like crazy though, now we just have to see how many they produce!

Already sold out in most online vendors simply after 3 hours after the announcement, I truly hope Nintendo make enough of these than the Nes Mini was to make this accessible to all

Pre-orders destined for eBay no doubt...

If they dont make enough of these and I dont get one then Nintendo are dead to me. I'll sell all Nintendo stuff I own in a flash sale, or maybe even burn it.
Not bothered about getting it on release day just having one eventually is enough for me. It does look ace.

It's not even out and people are overpaying for this already?

It's almost like what Disney used to do with their VHS movies. They would release them for a limited time and then pull them from shelves and put them back in the vault. I didn't really understand it then and I don't understand it now. They're creating artificial scarcity and making their products way more valuable than they really are. So far people are taking it but at what point will they have enough?

For me there's also the fact that I payed a lot of money for the Switch and there's still no kind of Virtual Console on it. I would love to be able to play all these games on it but instead I would have to buy a Classic for more money and have another device hooked up to my TV. Seems like a slap in the face to early adopters of the Switch.

Well, looks like things are already not looking good:  Nintendo has a fiasco on its hands with the new Super Nintendo Classic.

Yep, it's not out for a couple months yet and it's already a mess. People just need to say no, stop buying these and stop supporting this practice. Of course they won't though and nothing will change.

What's the problem? I'm sure there are plenty of companies in Shenzhen willing to churn these out and it's not like Nintendo are short of industry experience. I really don't get it. They could literally sell millions of these things.

I don't think we'll understand why this is happening.  They had the supply issue last year and it seems they didn't learn from it. As you say, they can easily make tons of these to sell.

They know what they are doing, its the old supply and demand trick, yes it may seem as though they lose sales because there isn't enought to go round, but because they want people to think they need to order from day one they get the instant rush and big pre orders which outweigh what they would have sold if it just sat on a Toys r Us shelf like, i have no doubt the Switch is selling better because people 'must have it' when infact they dont really because there is sod all exclusives bar 'Arms' , its not a new tactic but its working for Nintendo even though people seem to think they are mad.

Well, pre-orders for these started going up today in NA. I wasn't going to get one just because of how Nintendo handles these, but once I saw the link come up I had to get one lol. They were gone in a couple minutes so I was lucky to get one!
