Mini NES
« on: July 14, 2016, 15:03:27 PM »

Nintendo has just announced the Mini NES, a plug and play console pre-loaded with 30 games. It's supposed to be out this November with a price of $60. Not sure what the price will be in other regions.

You can read more about it here and see the full list of games.

The controller that comes with it will also double as a Wii or Wii U controller for playing Virtual Console games on those systems and you can also use Wii and Wii U Pro controllers on the Mini.

Personally I think $60 for 30 games is a little expensive but I'm sure they will sell a ton of these this Christmas!

I saw this earlier today.  I think that's nifty and it's cool that it's coming directly from Nintendo.  This is their version of the Flashback.  If pricing goes like the Flashback's it is likely they will be much cheaper.  The Flashback's have that same list price but normally sell for about $40-45.

Yes, between Pokemon Go and this Mini NES Nintendo are on a roll! $40-$45 would be a much better price point.

A school mate sent me a pic of this in the morning asking if I'd heard about it yet. I told her no but meant to research it later. And here it is 8)
Looks nice and I could go for the price if the included games stay good. Could be those last minute changes but the lineup at this time looks like all the best of the best.

I would say the pricing is bang on the money. Let's face it guys Nintendo make quality products so your paying slightly more than you would for a Flashback because of the build quality and it's made by the same company. This is a master stroke from Nintendo. They are certainly on a roll.

So many good games on that list; Ghosts'n Goblins, Gradius, Ninja Gaiden, Mario , Zelda, Castlevania....Good grief the list goes on.
For me its worth buying just for Metroid!

This kind of thing has been around for a while but Nintendo looks like it might well nail it with this. Definite purchase for me.

Is there any mention of controllers anywhere. I'm assuming you one with it and would need to buy a second. As long as they're reasonably priced.

That sounds reasonable.

Just found this too actually https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-Classic-Mini-Entertainment-Electronic/dp/B01IFJEWTM
Preorder for Amazon UK, £49.99 (also mentions an included controller)
If an extra controller is ~£10 i'm up for that. <£60 for the setup suits me :^]

I doubt I will get one of these but I will probably pick up one of the controllers for use with my Wii U. At $10 they're a steal!

Think $60 is a great price, not that dear at all. BUT how much will it be in the UK ? Whats $60 nowadays, is that about £35-40 ?

I bet this will be £60 in the UK though when its out. Be interesting to see the price.

Think its an excellent list of games, not full of shovelware. Very tempted to get this

I'm now wondering it this can be remotely hacked to allow NES ROMs to run from this box, I don't remember seeing any form of SD slot on this machine, i know I sound like a hack pirate type, but I'm thinking in the lines of Homebrew games and the likes, i don't need to play commercial games, I can do that on my Android media box.

Think I'll get one just to support the cause.
Hoping maybe they'll do the same for the SNES, GC & Wii at some point if the sales are high 8)
