Title: RVG Podcast Idea. (Homebrew Heroes)
Post by: zapiy on November 29, 2017, 15:33:15 PM
I am going to revive the podcast with immediate effect..

I am looking at doing homebrew only chat, we will be the only podcast focusing on homebrew across all systems, I am looking for voice recordings of reviews being submitted, the first one will be an Xmas special so if you fancy a 10-15 min slot on the podcast please post what you will cover here and submit it by the 2nd week of December please.

I could talk about SMS Brawl on the Mega Drive.  I would discuss all that the game has to offer as well as what I feel should still be implemented to complete the game (it's still being developed).  Would recording the audio through my camera's microphone be okay?  I have a decent desktop mic, but all my computers currently have some sound problems (distortion and/or obnoxious beeping and hissing).  I'll be getting a nice USB microphone this Christmas to eliminate these issues, but until then, my best option is my Canon Vixia HF R600's built-in microphone.

First one will be xmas theme mate.

So any homebrew xmas game on any system

You can try it that as a recording option but if the audio is bad I wont admit it to the final podcast if thats ok?

Dang, I didn't read that closely enough!  I'll try to find a good Christmas themed game then.

Check out my Altered Beast review to see if the audio will be good enough.  The whole thing, including the review part itself, was recorded through the camera mic.

There are plenty of Christmas games, certainly for the 2600.  We had a section just for those.  I guess we can restore them also.

I emailed zap suggesting that we also allow written submissions that can be read during the podcast episode.  You can even select specific games to get feedback for.

I'll cover Reindeer Rescue for the Atari 2600.  How exactly should I do this?  Like, are there certain things I should say or should I just go with my normal review style (minus the freaking out I do when complaining about something of course XD).  Also, how should I address myself, Dallas or the Dreamcast Gamer?  Am I allowed to briefly mebtion my channel?  Should this be completely scripted or partially scripted with me sounding more natural rather than having absolute perfection in my speech?  Am I asking way too many questions? XD

I've never been on a podcast before and it's been awhile since I've listened to one, but once those questions are answered, I'll be able to get to work on it.

Normally, audio submissions for podcasts are pretty unique to the individual.  I'm not sure what zap has in mind for this particular episode so let's wait to see what he says.  From the podcasts I've listened to, people submit in their own style as just simple commentary to fancy stuff with sound effects and all.

Ok, so it would be more like if I was reviewing a game during a live stream rather than the heavily scripted Dreamcast Gamer series?

Yes, that sounds about right.  So, it would be Dallas speaking, not Dreamcast Gamer.

Yes exactly in your own style. Obviously do it with an end score out of 10. The rest we will refine as we go.
