It is always nice to have a new spectrum title to review. Since the homebrew scene is strong and full of talented people, there is never a shortage. The latest game I get to review is a simulation game called Husband Chores by Sebastian Mihai.
The game has been programmed from scratch using Z80 assembly language. It sees you playing the role of a husband that has been told by his lovely wife he must do more chores around the house. These include cleaning the toilet, taking out the rubbish and picking up mess that appears mysteriously outside the house. So naturally I could not wait to load up my emulator and give it some play time.
The idea of the game is very interesting and the game plays well with a simple control scheme. Using Z and X to move and M to pick up items, perform the tasks and move through the doors. Sadly though while it shows lots promise, there are a few things that let it down. The time limit is the main thing, as it makes the game frustrating. The house has a few doors and these lead to the various floors throughout. These doors close after a short time which means you get stuck on that level while waiting for it to open again. Also you need to remember which door leads where or it is a night in the dog house for you. Nice graphics, great idea and marvellous talent from Sebastian Mihai, just let down for me personally by the time limit..
