So after my other Battle Of The Bands threads here is the console edition!

It's the track "Lightning War" from the arcade game Raiden on 4 different consoles, all cartridge versions to make it fair. So which one is best?

I prefer how the Jaguar version sounds.  My second choice would be the Mega Drive version.

I voted Jaguar too with the SNES version a close second for me, I didn't think much of either the PCE or MD versions.

I actually had to make that Jag Raiden video myself earlier on as it wasn't on You Tube  8)

I didn't like how the SNES version sounded.  It was "raspy" to me.  Is that a word?  LOL

To be honest, I found the snes version more catered to the arcade feel and style of the Raiden series than any of the other versions, the jag version sounded like a Amiga mod for the late 80's , but comes in a second placer for me, the rest where terrible on the ears..And lowered the excitement of the game..audio wise.

Yes it is and I know what you mean, for a better comparison here is the arcade version:

I still think the Jag version sounds closest

A thumbs down?  For what possible reason?

I would guess they are a Jagtard from a certain group  :<img src=" title="Roll Eyes" />

The SNES version just takes is by a nose from tha Jag. Reason is the lead synth it just a little more aggressive and feels more high impact compared to the more swishy sounding Jag one.

Jag has a cool bassline though.

I knew you would vote for the SNES!  :P

The Jaguar version is ace. The only one I really didn't like was the PC Engine, which sounded naff  :P
