The loader music from Sanxion on the Commodore 64 is one of the most iconic chiptunes ever, it was later copied and re-done on other platforms.

The question remains though, which is the best?

The original C64 version or one of the others?

Has to be the c64 version, didn't really take to mad max cover, it lacked atmosphere the original did, but boy that marion paint version, is something else, imagine all those note manually inputted by a snes joypad one by one  ;)

Console Compulsive

The C64 version does it for me although i am pretty impressed with the humble spectrum version. Not a bad version at all.

I am still having a hard time decieding.

As much as I am not a C64 fan I do love the the SID chip original, probably the best chip music on the machine.

I wish the ST recording here was better quality because that vid isn't really doing it justice.

The Spectrum remix is outstanding and a really nice take on the original tune that uses the strengths of the Speccy.

The C64 SID version is definately a bit more complex and more melodic but the percussion is much better on the 2 Yamaha versions (the ST and Speccy 128k have basically the same sound chip) as always. Hmmmmm . . . . .

I think i prefer the speccy version, seems cleaner.

That C=64 version sounds bloody awful.

Seriously  :o

I put that there as a joke more than anything

The Mario Paint one is very good, pretty good sound and the sheer effort involved is amazing.

For me the Spectrum version takes it. Sounds nice and crisp where the C64 version just sounds a bit nasty and I do love the SID sound. Atari ST second.

Interesting to see the Speccy version beating the C64 original!!!!  :o

So, I've had a listen to the tunes and I'm sticking to my previously biased, and now just a little bit less biased, opinion.  The C64 version is my favourite.  It's such iconic game music from the first few bars right to the end.  Besides the other versions are just cover versions and so, illogically, they're inferior! :-[
