Atari 2600 Dark Chambers to Gauntlet Conversion

Here is the latest update from today by CDS Games:
Quote
* elf and object sprite redesigns
* added title screen music
* added 2nd food sprite
* restored missing exit to level 81
* moving joystick left and right on title screen changes player 1 character
* "LEVEL:" text redraw
* pressing select no longer clears high score
* two player exiting bug fixed

But the big news is that with some help from the folks in the Programming forum I was able to successfully expand the cart from 16k to 32k. With some creative redesign I can now restore the purple sorceror & demon, double the number and variety of mazes, and even add new objects. So now I have a lot of work to do. A LOT.

That is an ambitious task but a fantastic game for the VCS. Gauntlet is a superb game :16:
For the record, Alien verses Predator on the Atari Jaguar holds a Guinness World Record!

Yes it is and this conversion is really fantastic.  And now that the game size will be 32K, there's plenty that can be added. Someone should do the same for the 7800!

Here is an update from today...

Quote
A few days late for the feast of St. Nicholas, but here's a 32k version for your digital stockings.

    * Purple sorcerors restored, including disappearing
    * Demons restored and redrawn
    * Added Extra Magic Power potion--all characters can now destroy generators with this upgrade
    * Generators & bones now come in two levels. Shooting a Level 2 degrades it to level 1, while shooting a level 1 destroys it. This permanently fixes the generator shooting issue. Also added a second level 2 bones sprite.
    * Added orange potion
    * Added new food sprite (ham!)
    * Mostly fixed narrow top passageway issue
    * Fixed inconsistent diagonal velocity
    * Added invisibility amulet. Enemies cannot see you once this is picked up. Players turn visible again though when they open a door.
    * Added new level color schemes
    * Increased the frequency of powerup potions

There are a few bug fixes left, and whatever comes up in testing, and that should wrap it up.

And huge thanks to Wickeycolumbus and Omegamatrix for help with the bankswitching.
