I am pleased to announce that creator of Halo for the Atari 2600 Ed Fries, who I interviewed in the latest issue of Retro Gamer, is working on a port of the classic Namco arcade game Rally-X for the VCS. Ed recently attended the Portland Retro Gaming Expo and it got him fired up to work on something new. So he put together a WIP version of the game over the last couple of months or so. He is a big fan of Rally-X and it seemed like lots of people started working on a version but no one had come close to completing it for the 2600.

There is still a lot of work to do on it but he has now released several different updates of the game that can be downloaded to play on flash cartridges and emulators. We will bring you more news on this game when it is ready for release, you can read more about the project over at Atari Age.

This is very well done and quite fun to play on the 2600!

Be sure to check the original thread for this game again over at AA.  The game  has recently been updated and the name has now been updated to Rally X.  There's even a box design for it now.  :)
