I'm sorry but... such fucking arseholes aren't they? its like they didn't EVEN BOTHER to try and learn the controls to battle morph and started trashing it. What would happen if I did that to Star Fox? Complaining that its going to fast and they can't work out the point of the mission, I mean I can't believe THEY are actually dumb enough to go online and commit work like that to the public, its just so amateurish and actually pathetic. I can't say anything about blue lightening or highlander but neither Battle Morph or Hover Strike are that bad and they just completely misunderstand the fact that the jaguar cd is 18 years old or more. Fucking tossers

sorry but that's really fcuked me off

Yep, same. I left a really annoyed comment on the video telling them it was one of the worst videos I had ever seen and it was full off nonsense. I said that if they didn't understand the games then they should have just read the instructions. I also commented that saying Star Fox is better than Battle Morph is one of the most laughable things I have ever heard and that their claim to owning every single Jaguar CD game is massively off the mark.

I did forget to tell them that they could have just pressed a button to skip the FMV on Blue Lightning, or indeed just turned it off from the options, instead of moaning about "having" to watch it. I really expected better from James, he wasn't even doing it as AVGN.

yeah it was just a rubbish unfunny scathing bitch/moan at the console almost to provoke angry responses... and that guy with him was actually REALLY annoying after a while. I mean fair enough Highlander has divided fans of the CD Drive and I can't comment on its quality as I haven't played much of it but it just looked to me like an amateurish attack on the system in general that was actually really badly researched. I might do a video sometime about the Jaguar/CD giving people the real story on it and explain how battlemorph works etc so people don't take this crap seriously. Its actually laughable that the guy posted it the way it was

here is my comment I posted on their video:

"ok so the points made AGAINST Battle Morph are: the ship doesn't control v well, the missions are unclear & have no point etc... why the fuck can't people learn to play a game for a few minutes before bad mouthing it? Its like if I went & played starfox & it pissed me off because I couldn't control it so I go online & do a scathing video review of it saying how shit I think it is. The ship has several speeds that you can choose to fly at & the missions are explained in the briefing.. real pros"

Morons parroting the same BS that other morons have parroted down the years and so the circle of fail continues.

It wouldn't be so bad if so many other ignorant morons didn't take the words of said morons as being gospel. One only has to view discussions of retro games on the internet forums of today to see the same old moronic BS being parroted ad infinitum by subsequent generations of gamers.

Morons talking moronic BS that other morons actually believe without question because they're morons. What a wonderful world this is...

I watched 1st 10 minutes and just came away thinking video was clearly made and put out to get a response, it's not a review or unbiased look at the platform, just 2 people sat there coming across as lazy, smug and rather spoilt in places.

So, we get it, Jaguar CD, not that realiable, your Starfox fans, ok established that, now how about the hardware, did you guys appreciate what designers were trying to do, with open 3D worlds, did you perhaps make note of the way that Battlemorph used the CD storage medium over cart Cybermorph or perhaps compare the texture mapped 3D of Hover Strike to 3D games on PS1/Saturn and make note of what could be achived on Jaguar?.

Of course not, it was never the intention, it's easy to pour scorn on hardware you by admission have very little exp.of and are unwilling to spend time on, constructive critiscm i would have welcomed as i've bitched on here enough times how over sensitive controls can ruin a game, but in this video, i never got the feeling it was an objective look.

The guy clearly is'nt stupid, some of vids i've previousily seen were quite funny, but this? very, very dissapointing. He did'nt offend me with it, i just found his approach rather pathetic, he had the chance to do something special with it, instead took a cheap shot, just for laughs and it fell flat on it's face.

As for Highlander CD:

65,000 colour backdrops, pixel-perfect Z-buffering, game enviroments base on locations that appeared in cartoon and an impressive range of scenary.Game desrves some credit here.

Maybe chap outta rename himself to the IGNORANT Video Game Nerd?

The backgrounds on Highlander are simply stunning, especially once you get outside the camp. I am actually in contact with the coder of Jaguar Highlander and owner of what used to be Lore Design.

This video seems to be getting a very negative response on other forums too, its just an embarrassment.

The question is, does the Angry Video Game Nerd even care about the reaction?

The reaction, was what he wanted from that Video, clearly meant to get a response from the Jaguar community, lot of hits etc.Cheap tactic.

Slight tangent, but related, this 'knocking' of the Jaguar, seems in vogue again on various sites, not just AVGN Jaguar CD piece, but on RG it popped up again with a claim Jaguar 3D really was shocking in realation to frame rates.

Got me thinking, why then was'nt the Amiga/ST era for example also brought up? things like F-19 on the A500, fantastic for the time clocked in between 7-25 FPS, running it on an A3000 got you 25 FPS on average, Zeewolf on an A1200 was 17 FPS, in 32 colours (these speeds from developers themselves), yet they never seem to get the attention the Jaguar does.

The CD32 or 3DO frame rates in things like Guardian or Star Fighter never seem to be put under the spotlight quite like the Jaguar does.

TL

Of course not, because they are not shit machines with rubbish games like the Jaguar  :<img src=" title="Roll Eyes" />

Or so we are told by people who have probably never even played 10% of the systems library if any games at all.

It's bollox though, is'nt it? IF your going to view past hardware on how it's 3D fares today, then you need to put everything under that microscope:The SNES FX chip, MD SVP, 32X, CD32, A500/1200, Atari ST/Falcon/Jaguar+Jag CD The 3DO, PS1+Saturn.

Yet these internet experts are more than happy to gloss over games on systems they loved.

All were early steps along the path of using  polygon's for 3D graphics, which were replacing thinkes like wireframe 3D, Vectors etc.

TL

A friend of mine actually did tests through a capture card to find out the frame rates of 3D games on the Jaguar and found that on average Hover Strike CD ran at around 25fps and only dropped to around 17fps when there was loads on screen. He was adamant that this could be improved if he had the source code to it as it was much better than the 12-20fps of the cart version even though it had better textures and extra graphical effects, showing they were still learning the machine.

Incidentally he is the one who is programming this incredible looking 3D game for the Jaguar (shame this video is now several years old as its improved since this was made)
