Jet Pilot Rising - New Super Nintendo Homebrew

Out of nowhere a new game has rocketed onto the Super Nintendo and it's quite the looker too. Jet Pilot Rising is the latest homebrew title to hit Nintendo's 16-bit console, a side scrolling arcade flyer featuring stand-out visuals and a chiptune soundtrack to boot.

Although the concept is simple, an airborne obstacle avoider, Jet Pilot Rising's surreal presentation offers some fantastic animation you'd expect to see in a retail release. Starring a rocket-riding-cat, the game tasks you with gliding through the misty skies dodging flaming falcons and creatures of the dead whilst collecting collectable coins.

Despite creating a rather impressive title by homebrew standards, the developer behind Jet Pilot Rising has decided to stay somewhat anonymous by leaving the game's release in the hands of the German based website SNESfreaks. The ROM of Jet Pilot Rising can now be downloaded for free and enjoyed on either a Super Nintendo emulator or compatible flash cartridge.

That is a hoot! Simple, yet easy on the eyes and ears. Most important of all it looks fun.

I usually follow all the homebrew games released for the SNES, but this one for some reason got out of the radar. Actually it looks quite simple from the video, but maybe as the game advances it gets more complicated or complex, I dont know. Anyways is always good that new games appear for the SNES, specially as people improve and learn more tricks to code in the Super Nintendo. Right now there is a game on development for the Megadrive, Proyecto Antares, which is a Shoot em up wich lookd really good, and it would be amazing if these types of things could arrive to the SNES as well!
