Solid Gold - New Commodore Amiga Homebrew

Frank Wille and his brother Gerrit with support by Pierre Horn, known collectively as Night Owl Design, have been working on the Solid Gold project since the end of 2012 continuously. And today, on New Year's Eve, 2013, the fruit of their labour is available to the public at large. There was support by Pierre Horn .

The player slips into the skin of John Kayle, an adventurer and archaeologist. The aim in each case is to find an artifact in order to reach the next level. Before we go on our mission, we learn more about it in an illustrated story that gives more background of the game, with a mysterious secret organisation being mentioned. There are four different worlds with a total of ten levels.

As in any platformer there are opponents to complicate one's life. Just like the classic Super Mario Bros. an opponent needs to be killed with a jump from the top. If you jump further and eliminate other opponents from above, the resulting points are doubled. The contact of an opponent from the side immediately leads to death.

The game is played on the classic Amiga with a joystick in port 2. Support is also added for a second fire button, so people with a gamepad will be happy, otherwise its the usual "joystick up" to trigger a jump. While John falls into the depths the character is controlled by pressing to the left or right.

Although Solid Gold may be regarded as priceless, you can download it for free. The two brothers would be happy to hear your feedback, who knows, maybe you'll encourage them to produce more fine Amiga games. Even the assembler source code can be downloaded without a problem: Open Source on the Amiga!

A professionally produced box with the game is in the planning stage, but will still take some time to realise. This Boxed Collectors Edition will not be free, but will be a must have for true Amiga fans! The game is available for free download and works on real hardware from Kickstart 1.2 with 1 MB of RAM. The usual emulators such as UAE can also be used.

DOWNLOAD HERE![/align:5izd5dbx]

Special thanks to Shahzad Sahaib of Retroguru[/align:5izd5dbx]

The visuals really remind me of Soccer Kid for some reason.
