What retro game would you like to see get a modern commerica
« on: March 09, 2013, 23:52:28 PM »
What with the recent releases of X-Com : Enemy Unknown and Carrier Command: Gaea Mission, what retro games would people like to see get a modern commercial re-make?  It can be on any of the modern platforms(PC, Wii, Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360).

There's loads, absolutely loads I would love to see remade, too many to list without boring you silly! So I will drip feed them into the thread lol. Ill start with buck Rogers on the MD, it's a really immersive game. It could be so easily expanded upon, especially the exploration side of things. The boarding of enemy ships was another great idea, that could be made very entertaining on today's hardware.

Do a console version (and use a modern game engine, like custom version of Unreal 3) of Rebellion's Windows'95 AVP and show how a true Aliens game should be done.

Super Cars 2 demmands to get an HD remake and put out on PSN for PS3, PSP+Vita, as does Chaos, Lords Of Chaos, Rebelstar, Rebel Star Raiders and Laser Squad.

MD Rambo 3 HD remake, well over due.

Platoon running on modern FPS engine would be bloody superb, tunnel sequences etc.

Rescue On Fract. A8/C64 running on modern eng (ok there's the Jag homebrew, but i'm thinking of putting it on a platform i still own, lol).

System 3's Myth would be superb, keep it 2D mind.

Will have a think of a few more.

Resident Evil games. Keep them lighter on the action and turn the darkness up. Resident Evil remake on the Gamecube is still amazing but a fully 3D update would be great.

Rogue has allot of remakes I'd love to see done, but there is, to me some classics not yet mentioned here, there has been a remake of this game done already by the Homebrew scene (Ovine Designs) Datasoft's classic Bruce Lee, but would love to see it reinvented for this generations but maintaining the original gameplay, another one from Datasoft would be "The Goonies", "Conan" or Big Five's " Bounty Bob Strikes back", "Rainbow Walker", "Alley Cat"  from Synapse software, I could go on and on , but don't wish to make this thread boring :113:

Whilst i'd love to see the following done on today's hardware:

Silent Hill, Midwinter 2, Captive, Hunter+Star Glider 2-In the case of the 1st 2, people behind them have either disbanded or sadly passed away, so i fear the 'spirt' of what made the originals so special, would be lost.

Going to add following i'd love chance to play on modern console:

Dungeon Keeper 2, System Shock 2 (running on Bioshock engine), Walker, Flood and Elktraglide.

I want to see a port, sequel, or pretty much ANYTHING come of One Must Fall 2097. I dunno how much it'd sell in these strange new days of BlazBlue and Arcana Heart (Don't look that up), but I know I'd play it. It's still pretty much THE fighting game of any home computer that exists. I'm pretty sure I've said this before, but Street Fighter 4 can suck it.

Hmm... either that, or maybe Apocalypse, for the PS1. You know Contra? You know how the Contra games they made for the PS1 sucked? Well, this is a 3D Contra if it DIDN'T suck. It's not the most sophisticated of games, but it basically plays something like a cross between Smash TV and Contra. That, and you're basically playing as Bruce friggin' Willis.

Would be great to see Thrust and Joust get full-on modern treatments with massive levels, TT modes etc.

Sounds lush - haven't delved into this gen though - no 360 and PS3 yet - I tend to stay a gen behind unless there's a big reason to buy into a platform. (Have a couple of region free 360 shmups so it will be 360 bought first).
