Put simply, I never understood why this game gets so little love?
Along with such games as Phantasy Star IV and Starflight it is certainly one of my favourite Megadrive games!
The story is simple. During the defence of Duke Barrick's Castle from marauding armies of Goblins and other such miscreants a vast portal opens above the city and tears it into another dimension. The city finds itself in a valley surrounded by insurmountable cliffs and beneath the baleful eye of an eternally shining Sun.
So 4 adventurers are chosen to explore this new world to try and find an answer to their predicament.

Now I agree the story is lacking certainly but the gameplay more than made up for this. With it's mix of combat styles (that being Gold Box turn-based style when in the field and Eye of the Beholder style when in dungeons) and a multitude of lands to explore the game was, in my most humble of opinions, fantastic.

Any other lovers of the game out there?

Retro News & Chat / My little collection.
December 20, 2012, 10:43:10 AM
I'm usually too embarrassed to show my collection as I'm not a purist who buys hundreds of things and purely buy to play so it is a lot smaller than most people's but here it is, the console stuff anyways (computers are all boxed).
I have omitted all the unboxed Megadrive stuff as I haven't the patience to empty the tape drawers and align them all lol

First, handhelds. I sold my Pikachu GBC recently due to money issues :(

And then my boxed Megadrive games. I have a few Tape Holders filled with unboxed games but as stated they are too damned awkward to empty.

So that's my games. Not a huge collection but I have little in the way of space fillers and really do just buy to play :)

Hi all

I have about 200 MD games now and still rising but it is limited by room more than anything.
My daughter has shown an interest in my games but today was great as she achived a 4th Place score on Afterburner 2..at the age of 2 lol
Besides gaming I love movies and books and air more towards Asian cinema and fantasy/horror/Lovecraft books :)

So that's me in a nutshell....
